Following up on Book → Movie → 3D World... There’s another interesting format in between: a movie you can pause and look around inside. I added this to my opus 5.5 clip from @karpathy's LOTR benchmark. At any moment, you can take control of the camera, orbit the scene, and inspect it from another angle. The characters and animation stay frozen at that point in the story. Then press play, and the camera returns to the director’s view as the narration continues. Since the movie is rendered live in @threejs, each frame is a view into a 3D world we already have access to. A book becomes a 3D world, with a movie as the guided path through it. Maybe “explorable video” is a useful name for this primitive?
