I've been a hobbyist gamedev for 16 years and never finished anything — until I built an AI-assisted pipeline. Here's what it looked like.

I've been messing with game engines (Unity, Unreal, Godot) as a hobby for about 16 years and never shipped a single finished game. The pattern was always the same: the interesting problems get solved, the unglamorous 20% never does. This month I finally broke it, and I want to share the actual pipeline because I think it's genuinely changed what's reachable for hobbyists like me. **The pipeline:** 1. **Prototype in the browser with Claude.** The original Voidfall Tactics was built as a React game right in Claude chat — the whole game was code, iterating in minutes. That proved the design was fun before I invested real engine time. 2. **Port and expand with Claude Code + Unity3D.** Claude Code (the agentic coding tool) worked directly in my project files, porting the game logic to C# and expanding it with features like full inventory and unit leveling up. I still did all the Unity editor work — scenes, prefabs, wiring, WebGL builds — the AI can't touch that half, and honestly that…
